MailKit API ("we", "our", or "us") operates the MailKit API service at mailkitapi.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, name (optional), and a bcrypt-hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Verification requests

When you call the /verify endpoint, we log the domain of the verified address, the verification result, and a SHA-256 hash of the email address. We do not store the raw email address you submit.

Usage data

We track daily request counts per account to enforce plan limits and display usage in your dashboard.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.

How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Verification logs are retained for 90 days. Usage records are retained for 12 months for billing and analytics purposes.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@mailkitapi.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Security

We use industry-standard practices including bcrypt password hashing, SHA-256 hashing of verified email addresses, HTTPS for all communications, and short-lived JWT tokens for session management.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
